Spinal
Traction
As
long as we have been able to reason we have sought to deal
with back and neck pain and its related conditions. Traction
of the spine has been tried many different ways. Most attempts
have been what is called long axis traction, pulling the
spine along a straight line. This form of traction has always
had limited success. The spine seen from a frontal view
should be straight, but seen from the side it has a series
of curves and acts like a giant spring to help deal with
the force of gravity and the impacts of daily living. The
latest tests and research clearly show that traction of the
spine around these curves achieves better results reforming
the spine. The simple slant spinal traction system does this
simply by placing the
rolled up pillows under the lower back and neck.
The Spine is held together by ligaments and other connective tissue surrounded
by muscles ranging from small to large. Due to injury and bad posture the connective
tissue shortens, becomes thicker and deformed, When the vertebrae become displaced
they also cause a pulling or stretching of this connective tissue. The body tries
to deal with this by infiltrating calcium into into the tissue causing spurs
to form. This called osteoarthritis and traction spurs. The Simple Slant helps
to reverse this condition
The connective tissue of the spine follows the physics of plastic. It will stretch
under load by a slow process called creep. It is a lot like pulling taffy. You
pull on it slow and steady and it changes shape. The Simple Slant System does
this by lying inclined with the pillows rolled up under the neck and lower back
letting gravity do the work. |
