Generally
speaking psychological and chemical causes result in more
regional or diffuse symptoms covering larger areas of the
body. Some medications just make you hurt all over or too
much stress causes a general soreness across the shoulders.
A mechanical cause of back pain is more localized. When a segment of the spine
is out of alignment the pain will be more local. It can also affect the nerves
at that level. If a vertebrae in the upper neck is out of alignment twisted to
the right it will cause pain in the upper neck on the right, possible muscle
spasm in the trapezius muscle radiating into the right shoulder and upper
back on the right. If the the vertebrae is far enough out of alignment it can
affect the nerves going into the head and neck causing neck pain headaches, numbness,
tingling, dizziness and many other symptoms. A vertebrae in the lower back twisted
to the
left can cause lower back pain, muscle spasm, pain in the buttock on the left
and left leg pain, numbness or tingling. These are just two examples of the hundreds
of variations of symptoms caused by spinal misalignment. Injury to the spine
can cause fractures often obvious but also hidden. Some diseases such as cancer
and
some infectious diseases can cause back pain. Because of the nervous systems
relationship to the spine and the whole body many times disease in another part
of the body can refer pain to the spine. A condition of the heart or gallbladder
may cause only back pain. These of course can be serious conditions. It is
always in your best interest to have an examination by a qualified physician
to determine the cause of your back pain and rule out some of these other potential
hidden causes.
Many times there can be several causes of your back pain. Most of the time it
will require both the treatment from a health care professional and an effort
on your part to rehabilitate, restore and maintain your spine. For the best results
make Simple Slant a part of your return to full function and good health.
